Xmas shopping and desperate retailers

There’s only a week and a bit until Xmas and the major retailers are starting to panic girls!. It seems that consumers have become very savings-savvy now and online shopping has taken over in a huge way leaving the retail outlets worrying about their cash tills.  I think people, women in particular, have discovered that the festive spirit can be found in places other than crammed shops and over inflated prices.

I have been using online stores for my gift buying for about five years now and have been very happy with the results. I have saved large amounts of cash, earned decent rewards points on my credit cards and even avoided paying interest. It all comes down to keeping an eye on what your credit card provider offers. Make sure you find out.

Personally, I use Amazon more than I get in the car and go to the shops. The parcels start arriving in early December and as a bonus they can arrive already gift wrapped if you choose the option. The kids cannot see what’s inside the boxes; ever tried sneaking toys into the house wrapped only in those sheer plastic shopping bags?. You can just explain them away as  ” Oh, it’s just a few things Daddy ordered for work “. They have always bought that excuse, however I suspect they are slowly catching on…

If the major retailers want OUR hard earned money then maybe they should rethink their marketing strategies and what they offer to shoppers at this time of year. We all know that prices rise in the weeks before Xmas and then those bogus ‘discounts’ kick in trying to fool us into thinking we are getting a bargain.

Sorry guys, it ain’t working anymore!.
