We have stayed in a wide variety of accommodation on our travels as well as having involvement in the hotel/accommodation industry ourselves. You might assume that just because an establishment charges high rates for their rooms you would expect in return a certain degree of comfort or luxury. This is not always the case.

In fact it should not matter what you as a guest pay, or you as a proprietor charge; the small details are what distinguishes an establishment from the rest.  Yes, it is the small details such as the bedding or something as simple as the quality of the shower faucets in the bathroom.  Cutting corners may sometimes be necessary but aim to keep this to the things that the guests do not see and spend that bit extra on making the finer details just that bit more special.
