I think it would have to be the most annoying aspect of this form of technology, as much as cell phones have revolutionised our working lives it is really useless when in the middle of an important call the signal fades and you lose contact.

It seems that just about every Govt Dept, and many businesses, now use a Call Centre to deal with incoming enquiries; what can be really irritating is when you are calling a helpline, assuming it is within the UK, only to find yourself speaking to someone in India with no idea of the demographics relating to your problem…then there are often the language barriers.

But would you choose a Call Centre position as a career? actually many people do nowadays and not just on a temporary basis; it is a skill to be able to efficiently deal with customers over the phone, and on the same note, those customers who are on the other side of the world.

One thing is certain; at some point, maybe on a daily basis, you will encounter people over the phone who are raging, boiling, hopping mad. I myself have worked, and do work, extensively in the customer service industry and have had to deal with such people many a time. I have been spat at, sworn at, threatened and even had an icecream cone thrown at me. I have also pondered at just how more vitriolic a female can be compared to a male…
