Worrying times for some banks in the USA? if you have ever seen that film ” It’s a Wonderful Life ” you will recall how all the bank customers made a desperate rush and withdrew all their savings leaving George Bailey ( James Stewart ) with just $2.00 in the vault.

Similar scenes have been happening recently with Tennessee banks; anxious investors have been calling the hotlines to investigate whether their money was FDIC insured. Prompted by the IndyMac collapse recently customers are taking the worst-case-scenario outlook while the Tennessee Bankers Association attempts to calm the situation.

Another bank ready to order the moving boxes…?

Just remember the old saying - Don’t put all your eggs in one basket - and this particularly applies to investments. If you have $100,000 or less in an FDIC insured bank rest assured your money is safe - but think on and don’t keep it all in just one bank.

Most of us can admit to hoarding a lot of old stuff that we never use but cannot bring ourselves to throw away; I am one of those people.

Also, most of are always finding ourselves scratching for a few extra dollars/pounds to get us through to pay day - have you ever considered that all those odd and ends lying around the house and attic could be just the ticket to getting that extra cash…?

An enterprising group of Australian’s got together and started Rentoid which is a website where you don’t sell all that stuff you want - but don’t need - but rather rent it out to those who do. It has really caught on and so long as you follow the guidelines you can pretty much rent out anything on the site - it’s a great idea particularly for those people who cannot afford the larger rental companies for things such as fridges, TV’s etc.
