I would say that if you have to make one promise to yourself fo the new year then make a vow to address your health issues. And most of us could do with a ‘fine tune’ at this time of year.

Get the kids into the act as well and make it a family affair; you may not be able to afford to fork out money for pricey gym membeships but there is always the tennis court and indoor pool. And the kids may not win any basketball trophies but joining a team would get them up and running each week.

I always say that you can eat what you like – as long as you keep moving around, it’s when you stop the activity that things get sluggish. Give it an honest try this year and see how much ground you’ve made by June.

The Queen, it seems, is most definitely not amused about the growing credit crisis and has endorsed a crackdown on bankers and city finance-types getting onto her New Years Honours List for 2009.

Good one ‘Liz!

As a mark of Royal displeasure, leading figures from the world of finance are understood to have been omitted from the New Year’s Honours List to be unveiled this week. The disclosure that there will be ‘few, if any’ high-ranking awards for financiers has filtered through to the City, where it has deepened the dismay among a demoralised and shrinking workforce.

But these people can shoulder the blame fairly and squarely for the current situation which has caused so much misery this year.

I am always for a re-working of who gets onto this list anyway – too many politicians, financiers and actors get the top titles while those who perform the unsung acts of charity in the wider community have to settle for the lesser gongs.

It’s about time things changed.

Okay, but within reason – especially with regards to the ‘drink’ aspect of the merry-making. I was reading this week that two of the most popularly requested pills right after Xmas and New Years Eve are diet pills like Anoretix - for what you indulge in during the Xmas party – and the Morning After Pill (for what you indulge in after the Xmas party…)

But while you are having the great time you deserve to have remember to play it safe – just enough to ensure you have a great Xmas season. We all need to let our hair down and this is the time to do it.

Merry Xmas!
