Over the past couple of years I have eased up on the toy aspect of Xmas – my two youngest are 6 and 4 – and bought them heaps of books instead. Story-time is the main part of the bedtime routine in our house so they are becoming dedicated little bookworms as a result.
Which is always a good thing of course.
Amazon has always been my place to shop for such things online as they offer free delivery over £5 anywhere in the UK – but here’s a better deal I have discovered.
Waterstone’s, that great place to browse for your books, is offering free delivery on everything until the end of November. Now, Amazon cannot beat that right now so if it is books you are after for Xmas gifts then get them now and pay no delivery charges.
I will still be using Amazon of course but will be taking advantage of this other deal.
Bank of England to slash interest rates to ZERO :
For the first time interest rates could be slashed to zero in the UK – anyone smell a hint of panic on behalf of the Bank of England…? not only this, but a serious recession is predicted for next year with consumer spending expected to hit an all time low.
Of course the economy needs consumers to get out and into those shops but maybe the time is near for people to start rethinking their spending habits. The idea of people only buying the essentials for a change is a good thing for us individuals, but probably not good for the national economy. They want us to spend – I like to think the consumer knows which is best.
If you don’t have it don’t spend it.
