A sad day for Woolies

We have all grown up with Woolies haven’t we? now the days of the old pick n mix store are finally over as today the retail outlets hold their liquidation sales. I honestly thought that the company would find a buyer and be rescued – but no such thing has happened.

All their stocks are reduced by up 50% from today – this will be a boon to Xmas shoppers but a very sad thing for those employed by the stores.

Even Woolworths wholesale music and DVD distribution business is in administration; whoever thought that a store which first began as a five and dime outlet would end it’s days in the UK pretty much the same way…?
