I was recently reading an interesting article regarding Amazon UK’s launch of it’s new Prime Membership Programme which promises first-class-delivery for it’s annual membership fee of £50. This supposedly will ensure your purchase will be delivered with in 24 hours. But I wonder how many of it’s customers will take them up on this offer?
I have been an Amazon UK customer for about five years now and if there is one complaint I have it is just how darn long you have to sometimes wait for the item to arrive, even if you pay the £8.50 extra for the next day express delivery option. The thing is the items often do not arrive the next day because they are not despatched fast enough. Or at all.
When Amazon works properly it is a fantastic way to shop online – but how often have you, like me, chosen an item that is listed as being available and in stock only then to get that ‘estimated delivery date 3-6 weeks’ message? in my experience that is as good as saying out of stock. It’s in stock for god’s sake so why 6 weeks!! try getting an answer though…
I have found though that purchasing through their second-hand seller method that whatever I have ordered has always arrived within three days so it puts Amazon’s own despatch process to shame. However I will still continue to use Amazon but tend to make more use of the third-party seller method – this way you actually get the stuff you’ve ordered.
