We have to shift the fridge and upright freezer right up to the other end of the kitchen and that is not an easy task to do due to the space restrictions; one of the holes is right over the kitchen faucet and sink so he has to be able to get into that area without any hassles. It should take a couple of days so long as the dry weather holds out – fingers crossed that the rains stay away until the weekend then it can bucket down as much as it likes.

I was in a shopping centre today and got stuck in a long queue which was an experience which had me looking desperately for the exit signs due to the fact that it was quickly turning into a wild crush. I hate crowded rooms and mob situations so I try to avoid them where possible – and is one reason why I prefer to shop online when it gets busy and I usually wait for the crowds to subside in the new year sales.

In my opinion all blogs could do with a freshening up from time to time – I dont know about you but looking at the same template everyday can get boring and you need to keep on your toes and not be too complacent about how others see your site. Maybe you have a formula that works fine, but don’t be afraid to make a few changes here and there when the time is right.

We have K9 installed and using this there are several categories that are blocked from our system – gaming sites, chat sites…this works well for us and I suggest other parents do the same instead of complaining about not being able to control which sites their kids visit.

At the moment we have not installed any live chat software on his laptop for the sole reason that he does not have a huge amount of disc space so he is happy to use the chat facility on Facebook. Yes, we have had some discussion about it but I think this is where compromise is needed – we teach our kids not to speak to strangers anywhere else so why should this not extend to the internet…?

Inevitably some water got into the kitchen and I slipped while carrying a cheese platter – brie and gouda everywhere I’m afraid. So today we are off for some kitchen rugs in case it happens again. That it has not happened before is a miracle given that summer is water pistol season at our place. We have stone floors in our kitchen which made it even more slippery – you do learn the hard way!

Last year be purchased three netbooks for ourselves and the kids and they have been the best investment we have made so far; we can type away happily on them (right now in fact) for about two hours battery time and get everything done that we we need. My bigger laptop has a battery life of about ten minutes – this one goes and goes.

And they have been a great way to teach the kids computer literacy too.

Three week ago some clown took his eyes off the road for a split second and ran his car up the back of us at an intersection – result was a bashed in back bumperbar. As it is a toyota we assumed we would be in for at least a couple of weeks without the car – imported parts etc – but we were pleasantly surprised.

From the time we contacted the auto insurance people to the time we got the car back from the repairers the total amount was just seven days. And that includes a weekend. We drove around in a very nice rental car for that time – I assume having to fork out for the rental spurred them on to complete the job.
