The property market right now particularly in places like the UK, France and Spain, is not a sellers dream by any standard. In the United Kingdom for example sellers are seeing their properties being sold in many cases for less than they paid for them - there’s your negative equity kicking in.

Pretty depressing eh?

Then there’s all those unfortunate folk - British expats - in sunny Spain who bought off plan a few short years back with the idea of investment and now cannot even sell those properties for half of what they originally paid for them. It is not just the local economy affecting people buying in Spain nowadays - too many horror stories have been told by expat buyers regarding unscrupulous agents, developers, local Govt corruption…many dreams there have turned into nightmares.

France is beginning to look the same way - not with unscrupulous dealings - but in that the economy in the UK has seen many properties in France remain unsold; if you are depending on British folk to purchase your ‘place in the sun’ you might have a very long wait…

We are among the latter; we have been on the market for about 18 months now with no sign of selling just yet. One thing that stands out right now is the attitude of the real estate agents; they seem an unmotivated lot and you have to look far and wide to find someone who has maintained a positive approach to selling a property.

We have dropped alot of agents in the past 18 months simply due to their pessimistic approach; they call on you, sit down with you and their first words are” You know the market is very slow right now - nothing is moving at the moment - people are ‘wary’ - ‘things’ are very quiet’…”

As honest as their words might be I am thinking ” hello, I will be paying you tens of thousands of euro’s/pounds if you sell my place…and you’re telling me we are defeated before we even start…? “

Not exactly inspiring eh?

Anyway, here’s the deal people; if you want to buy a nice little hotel complete with a family home all on the one property and would love to live in the south of France amidst vineyards and mountains…drop me an email - I wont be going anywhere in the meantime :)

Lovely - £550,000 and it’s all yours. Read more here
