Choosing a PC for a teen

My son has been asking for his own computer for over a year now and we have finally arrived at the time where is both practical and affordable for him to have one.

Basically he wants to play warcraft on it (like most teens) and do his homework/assignments on it for school, so it does not pay to go in for something el cheapo or at the top end of the price range either.

Sony brand I generally steer clear of, ditto with Apple (too dear). We have narrowed things down to an HP or a Toshiba. He wants a 15″ screen for the DVD’s and the games as well as 2GB at least for downloading the warcraft stuff. Anything less and just the basic Windows Vista will fill up the hard drive.

Once we have it though we will try running Linux or Firefox and see how that pans out – I am using Linux on one of the small Acer’s and it seems to work better than windows.
