The feminists will be happy but what would the UK be without a Miss Great Britain ?
This competition which was first held at Morecombe in 1945 has been the latest victim of the poor economy as sponsors are not as willing these days to finance the event. I suppose when you look at it spending hundreds of thousands of pounds to judge a bunch of young women parading around in a swimsuit to see who looks the best is not exactly a priority for many people right now.
Many applaud the death of this sexist rubbish, some lament the end of an era, but the fact remains that when Miss Universe is crowned there will not have been a Miss Great Britain there to have given her a run for their money.
