Does anyone use Western Union these days…?

My Mum in Australia wants to give the grandchildren some cash for Xmas so I have been looking around for a way for her to get the funds to me here in Europe. We don’t share a bank account which she can deposit into down-under enabling me to withdraw from over here, and of course sending Australian dollars will cost money in commission getting it converted – and I hate paying those commission fees.

I took a look at the Western Union website - why does it not publicise it’s rates for gods sake !

I have since discovered the exhorbitant costs involved in wiring the money using WU but had to visit the Post Office in order to do so…obviously they do not put their rates on their website because people will learn what they are and then decide not to use them. Frankly I am suprised that anyone does.

I have decided that it is easier for Mum to get the money to me using my PayPal account and will cost very little, if anything at all.
