The case recently highlighted of Charlotte Buckley must serve as a warning to the many women who decide to lose weight before their wedding.
Of course every woman wants look like a princess on her special day; every woman dreams of that fairytale dress with the tiny waist and bared shoulders – but is it worth risking your health, or even relationship ?
Charlotte lost a great deal of weight in a very short space of time but even after the wedding she found herself well in the grip of anorexia. This common situation is now being termed brideorexia and almost caused Charlotte to lose her life; unfortunately her new marriage did not survive beyond a year. So was it worth it…just to fit into a dress ?
I know that there are many women who, despite reading about such cases, are ever determined to put their health and lives on the line by committing themselves to starvation diets; however they do it whether it be searching for those ‘magical cures’ or paying a fortune to get wrapped in plastic wrap in a salon or binge/purging – it is a problem which is not going away.
Yes, by all means lose a few pounds for your big day – most women find they lose a bit of weight anyway during the lead up and the anticipation – but do it the best way for your health and adopt a healthy eating plan and do some extra walking or exercise. This way you will really glow on your wedding day and you will not only feel a million dollars you will also look it.
