I have heard of people leaving the city behind but this goes one step further. Hristo Mishkov, 32,  a former Wall Street banker has swapped the world of finance for religion and become a monk. He is now known as Brother Nikanor and lives in a monastery in a remote part of Bulgaria.

His one remaining luxury is a mobile phone and he has used his talents to help locals rebuild their villages and schools; without the help of things we take for granted like wholesale electronics stores and internet shopping. He says all those bankers should keep a jar of soil on their desks to remind of where they are going in the bigger scheme of things.

Sounds like there are many bankers who would right now love to join him.
