French chain hotels: budget priced but hard to get to

We have just travelled by car back from France and, like many tourists, stayed in those budget hotels like Etap and F1. Well, not F1 to be honest – we are never that desperate…

These places are okay but their locations leave alot to be desired; usually in industrial areas of the town or city with the smell of industrial products often floating on the air. More than once we missed the turn offs as the signs get obscured by trees and scrub, or the directions for them are simply not clear enough, which is pretty frustrating at eleven o’clock at night and you need to find a bed somewhere.
