The latest announcement from this increasingly beleagured airline smacks of a company desperate to stop themselves going to the wall.
Passengers will now have to pay £10 for the privilege of printing out their own tickets, on their own printers and using their own paper. And be careful if you forget to take that online check-in slip to the airport with you because you will then be charged a £40 fine for your forgetfullness. I can see some unpleasant scenes in Ryanir terminals this coming summer…
Travellers must start voting with their feet. As for ourselves, we will be choosing to fly with Aer Lingus instead; you get free priority boarding if you are disabled or have young children – you get allocated seating (no getting bowled over by a charging herd…).
To us here in Northern Ireland Aer Lingus have the advantage in that they fly to more convenient airports (no ridiculously out-of-the-way locations), have no additional charges and the service is so much better all round. Fingers crossed that it stays that way.
