This is an important thing to consider because with the economy slowly getting back to some normality the very hard-hit car industry will be out to get your money. So what car would you be looking at – or SHOULD you be looking at…? women these days no longer want to be limited to the small, red hatchback – we ladies can drive 4X4′s with the best of them now, or maybe something with a bit more vrooom. One thing you do want is reliability.
Don’t forget that car insurance companies base their premiums heavily on age and make of car. Anything too souped up and you will pay a fortune in that regard. And then there is expense of maintenance; with modern-day high tech engines and a console packed with fancy gadgets, modern cars aren’t easy – or cheap – to fix. Unless you are a professional mechanic, or know one, these days the only option when your car breaks down is to take it straight to a mechanic and this can cost you a small fortune. Here’s a list of recently voted most reliable cars for 2010:
1 Suzuki – I own myself and can vouch for how reliable these cars are.
2 Honda – popular with the guys
3 Mazda – becoming more affordable
4 Toyota – once again, owned one myself…can be thirsty fuel-wise depending on make.
5 Skoda – becoming a trendier choice
6 Smart – no French lady would be seen in anything else!
7 Citroen – ditto for French men/families
8 Hyundai – hmmm…
9 Nissan – yeaahhh
10 Ford – not the reliable cars they once were but a safe choice anyway.
You may as well know the most UNreliable cars for 2010 – but once you read down the list you wont be too bothered unless you have the budget to buy one in the first place!…some surprising choices here:
1 Jeep – who can afford to fill the tank of one of these things!
2 Porsche – only for those who can afford the insurance
3 Landrover – ditto for the Jeep
4 Alfa Romeo – mostly doctors buy these…
5 Chrysler – supreme gas guzzlers
6 Jaguar – what’s the point unless you can drive the superfast autobahns in Germany?
7 Audi – boring…
8 MG – shame…the old MG’s rocked!
9 Mercedes – maybe if you have retired with a large pension
10 Saab – strange choice here but I like them…
As per usual it was found that the Japanese cars ran very well but then you cannot rule out the the great German cars such as the Golf. When you purchase your new car make sure your warranty covers everything that NEEDS to be covered and keep up that regular servicing and lastly, from my own experience, extended warranties were not worth the paper they were written on.
