Simple – don’t go on the weekend. Think about it; when people decide to take a long weekend away they naturally book from Friday to Sunday/Monday. This will generally cost far more than say if you travelled mid-week, or even from Monday to Wednesday.
Another way to get a cheaper deal is to take a look at what’s happening in the area of your chosen destination at the time you wish to be there; is there a major concert going on – an exhibition ? this will often hike up the price of hotel rooms. For example, if you have Las Vegas in mind and wish to stay in a vegas hotel check out whether there are any business conferences happening at that particular hotel at that time. If it is conference-week (and many businesses use Vegas as a destination) try and avoid going there at that time.
By doing these few things you will get more for your vacation dollar.
